Enter Canada with an expired COPR – Aptech Visa

Canada has issued advice on how to go to the country if their Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) has expired.

COPR holders who have had their documents expire must renew them before travelling. They will not be permitted to enter Canada if their documents have expired.

Many COPR holders were unable to go to Canada due to COVID-19-related travel restrictions. This is due to the fact that they were not excluded from the existing travel restrictions until June 21, 2021.

Many people's documents expired while they waited for the border to reopen. IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) has now issued advice for these individuals on how to enter Canada.

A COPR is a document issued by Canada to people who have been granted permission to immigrate to the country and become permanent residents.

This indicates that the holder has fulfilled all of the necessary requirements, paid their fees, and passed health, security, and criminality screenings.

How do you get to Canada if your COPR has run out?

Those with expired COPRs will be contacted by email, according to IRCC. You must respond to the email if you still wish to immigrate to Canada.

You may be requested to undergo a fresh medical examination and provide updated information after that. If you do not react, your file will be closed, and you will have to reapply if you want to become a permanent resident of Canada in the future.

Most people with expired COPRs who were granted on or before March 18, 2020 have been notified, according to IRCC.

What kind of documentation can Canada demand?

When you receive an email from IRCC, you will be questioned about your family circumstances and whether it has changed. If you got married, divorced, or had a new child, for example.

IRCC will request necessary papers if there has been a change.

You may be asked to produce updated documents if your earlier documentation, such as police certificates and medical exams, were expired.

Canada is relaxing its vaccination restrictions for fully vaccinated visitors.

Beginning July 5, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. EDT, fully vaccinated travelers will be able to travel to Canada without being subjected to the quarantine requirement. This implies they won't have to stay in a government-approved hotel on day 8, and they won't have to take the COVID-19 test.

Approved permanent residents with appropriate COPR documents are included in this category.

The vaccine must have been administered as many doses as recommended by the manufacturer (either one or two, depending on the vaccination) as well as have been approved by Health Canada. Janssen, AstraZeneca and Pfizer are among them.

All visitors to Canada will be required to take a COVID-19 test both before and after arriving in the country.

Travelers can present a negative #COVID19 test taken within 72 hours of their arrival in Canada, or a positive COVID-19 test taken between 14 and 90 days prior to their arrival in Canada.

Vaccinated travelers must use the Arrive CAN mobile app to submit their COVID-19-related information.
